changing blog
ok thats it!!! wordpress has pissed me off.
there are offering only like 50MB of photo space leh. means i have used up almost all the space. and when i deleted the photos to make space, the photos on the blog disappear!! no time to change now. maybe this weekend.
ROAR(for the second time today)
cheryl not cherly, can anot?
ai ya….im so tired of seeing my name spelled wrongly on all my certs and documents and even my access card and webmail here in jonkoping university. Ive emailed her before even before i arrived here, and STILL the error appears EVERYWHERE. seriously not fun.
change my name already! i will seriously pangz and die if the wrong name appears on my results slip to be send home.
ROAR.
my skin itches…
really badly right now.
At least the two cheek areas. Thanks to the face paint from the ice hockey match, i have two red patches on my face. It looks like a natural blush, only with small spots. have to control, i-must-not-scratch!
no photos from yesterday. I didnt bring my camera out. haha. We had this (boring) library tour which very few people went for and then we decided to skip the school tour. I notice the lecturers here, in general speak awfully softly. Time and again i have to strain my ears just to catch the words he/she is saying. oh my god! i hope they dun do this during classes. :S As it is, i already have problem keeping awake in lectures in Singapore.
Went to HnM with daph yesterday. For some odd reason she was very hyper. haha, i tink she was slowly sapping my energy away from me, or it may have been the sandwich she had for lunch. haha :P. Anw, we bought some stuff (YAY). I bought a sweater and a nice pink top. She got herself a pants and colourful beanie. Winter is too depressing to keep wearing dull colours. Yesterday, the sky was a perpetual grey.
At night, we went for a pub crawl, where they brought us to different pubs around town. The drinks were pretty cheap and some of the places were quite nice. But as usual la, there will silly people getting drunk and singing in merry little voices. Fun to watch if you ask me.
The last stop was the school’s club, but we kind of left early. It wasnt too bad cause we got to make friends with alot of other students from asia. But i swear i cant remember alot of their names anymore this morning. oh well…its a start!
alright, time for breakfast and then to school.
short chinese people
time: 12.30am (swe) 7.30am(sin)
I havent gotten much of a chance to take photos around the school. Then again, it may seem odd. I mean, what would you think if you see students taking photos of the ntu buildings during school time? haha
anw, here are some shots of school(which i could take only when i was braving the cold).

This is the school’s library.

This is the part of the school where we can see part of Lake Vattern. It is unfortunately, also the coldest place in school! i hate walking towards that direction cause the winds are forever so merciless. :S

This is the school of engineering. The school compound is small enough for us to not ever get lost. quite a feat for me really.

This is the student house, where we love to hang out to wait for each other. Its nice, warm and they serve cheap drinks. Plus, there always seem to be something that we have to do there. Oh, the lady at the counter is this really nice lady whom i have been bugging everysingle day since i arrived for my keys. haha.
Today, we also took a walk down to the swedebank cause xiao han needed to open a bank account. Here we discovered another area in town that had nice quiet streets but biting weather(thanks to its location near the lake)

Look at the trees, all naked! But i dun think their nudity robs them of their beauty. haha. After all, its waiting for new blooms.

shots around the street, plus two freezing girls!
Then after that little de-tour, we went to school and met the other 3 girls in the library cafe! Bought some weird fried noodles with sweet chili. The chicken was incredibly salty, and the price was incredible too. It was over 10sgd for a box of mee leh…and its suppose to be a school somemore. where are the student prices?? *grumble grumble*

chian hui and amanda loving the limelight

amanda bemoans the recent disappearance of her 10 fingers.
After all the talks for today( including one sleep inducing one on academic integrity), we had a ice hockey match to look forward too. Ok, truth is, its probably not a top notch match since it was pretty cheap to get in. Plus we had NO IDEA who the hell we were suppose to be rooting for, since it was a school organised trip. But we had to go cause no one should miss a chance to watch a live ice hockey match right!?
The bus ride there was a real tight squeeze cause so many students were trying to get on at the same time. Never have i seen the bus stop so packed. There is no such thing as school chartered bus here la. haha, so we had to take public transport. In the bus, the 6 of us felt overwhelmed man. We were dwarfed, at everyone’s armpits level. (ewww..). This really tall guy said something that made my day seriously, he told his friend
“hey man, be careful not to fall and crash the chinese people”
OMG…i was so tickled! haha i know he said it with good intention cause some of us were like caught in between them and the bus was jerky now and then, BUT it made me feel like we were chinese packet takeaways that were fragile and small! And damn!!! WHY must we be so short!!!! lol
Ok…so back to the match. The build up was really quite cool. When the stadium dimmed to prepare for the entrance, the lights that beamed across the stadium made me feel that we were preparing to watch an episode of “So you think you can dance”. Then there were small firesparks that shot across the ceiling and suddenly the floor was full of gliding players zooming around.
The match was home ground for one team, and boy did they get the ALL the support. must have sucked for the other team. The most terrifying moments must have been when the putt shot and hit the plastic in front of us(cause we were in the first row of the standing section). Also players love to slam each other against the plastic. The impact and sound is real scary. Oh, but the best part must have been the many instances of violence. Nothing too drastic or bloody, but enough for the audience to lap it up. There is alot dirty play and players all seem to have a very thin tolerance level. I hook you, i bang into you, i slam you, i grab your neck, i threaten to beat you up…etc etc. No wonder they need the many layers of padding.
At the end of the day, we may still not know who on earth we were supporting, but hey, it was quite something to see la.

After the match it was 9.45pm and we were already thinking that “gosh, this is so late!” haha…i think our concept of time has become quite messed up. And thanks to the slight drizzle outside, we were so very cold. I have not shivered since i got here, but tonight, it was impossible to not shake while waiting for the bus. Guess wearing 4-5 layers doesnt always help.
i doubt when school starts will i have the time and energy to upload all these picture. lol. hope i can sustain this energy! Modules look quite intense academically actually, so i dun think i can expect to not do much and score while im here. sigh. i know i only need a pass, still cannot too cui la. haha.
alright, time to say good night while the rest of you wake up. I miss home and you guys leh. :p
touchdown
hello hello. My internet connection is finally up and going. wow. sorry for the long absence. and sadly, i still have no one to talk to online since its only 1050pm here, but 5.50am in Singapore.
I cant believe we have been here for less than 3 days actually. From leaving to here, it was a damn long journey. A flight from Singapore to Amsterdam then to Copenhagen. Then a two part train ride to jonkoping. That was painful, cause we had to lag over 30kg of stuff each up and down the train. -_-. Plus the cold weather. it was like watching 6 lumbering ba zhangs trying to find their way. And the evil train master still blew the whistler to hurry us!!!
but ok la..we met really nice people along the way. The air steward on the KLM flight was really friendly, the lady at the train station was really patient with our questions, the nice guy who helped pick up my luggage again and again as it fell, and the jonkoping uni student that we met at the train station who was coming back from her own exchange in aust.
The people here are all real patient you know. No one has ever shown any sign of irritation at our silly questions. haha
In terms of accommodation, it really was a bit of a let down. Because we got our third choice. It was Grashagen, which seriously, is the most anti-social place on earth! Each apartment has its own kitchen and toilet and so there is really no need for interaction as compared to the other two hostels that has a common kitchen and toilet. The corridors are so quiet at night, its creepy. Oh, but i’m rooming with daph la. And when we got over our disappointment, we were glad to find out there are two more ntu students with us and two smu students, and maybe another 2-4 hongkongers around. I dun know what to expect of this place with all honestly. Just a few minutes ago, this dude knocked on our door and asked if we wanted to join a group of them gathering upstairs in the common room. By virtue of being an gung-ho exchange student, i should say “yes!”. BUT, instead i said ”maybe next time la”. I had just began my blogging. It also didnt help that gatherings were made up of drinking and well..the guy reeked of alcohol. lol.
so yes, enough of my depressing accommodation. It was never in our wildest imaginations to end up here, but since we are here, we shouldn’t spend too much time moping around!
ok, so after arriving, on sunday we went shopping! The temperature was about 2 degrees and darkness descends before 5pm. It’s terribly novel at this point of time. haha We rushed like mad to get our groceries and go to Ikea and when we were done, it was 5pm. Outside, it was dark dark dark, and there was like NO ONE on the streets. The wind was blowing, we were burdened with lots of heavy stuff, clothed in many thick layers, and hopelessly lost. There was supposed to be a connection from the supermarket to A6 which is the city’s largest shopping centre. But everything was closed, SO the connection was inaccessible too! It took abit of walking and asking the FEW passerbys we saw before we made it to the bus stop. Never has a walk at 5pm felt so dark and dangerous. haha
and of course, that would explain why im aching so terribly today.
oh yes, today was the first day of orientation. The school of education and communication has a pretty small number of international students as compared to the business school. I think the four of us are the only Asians there. It takes getting use to, being the minority, but so far it has been ok. Amanda and Chian Hui were telling us how there is this group of Hongkongers and Malaysians that hang out tgt in their hall. I guess where ever we go, its hard to break out of the norms that we are used too. That would explain our excitement too in seeing a Chinese supermarket. haha.
and seriously…where is the snow?
There was supposed to be snow games and quiz night tonight, but it was partially cancalled cause of the lack of snow. Instead, we decided to try our first group cooking, which was quite a success!
I have to admit that with alot of things in school still very uncertain and trying to fit in this very foreign place, i still dun feel totally at ease. The weather in itself is a adventure. I stopped taking photos after awhile cause how do you feel your fingers through gloves, look after your scraf, hat, down jacket all at the same time! oh, but im glad that there are the nbs students as well, cause they are really nice.
okok photos after all my rumbling!

send off at the airport! with much love to all. <3

blue cheese(thats its name) hiding under my plane blanket.
daph feeling cold in the plane. haha

My first meal which cost me 10sgd. and mind you, the sandwich i only got half of it. haha

the lovely view from the plane window. Our flight to copenhagen got delayed for an hour. I was so worried we would have missed the train!

the amazing amount of luggage the 6 of us had. hah. this was us waiting in the cold for the 1.36pm train.

some shots of jonkoping town.
okok..im really tired now. Photos are a pain to upload on wordpress. haha see you guys soooonnn
countdown: 1
hmm….so this is my first entry. actually feeling awfully tired tonight. guess my worries of not being able to sleep the night before wont happen.
